George Roth

Bio

George Roth develops approaches that help managers and organizations in their learning, change, culture and leadership. He holds a research appointment at MIT”s Sloan School of Management and teaches at management courses at the Paul College of the University of New Hampshire. He previously headed the Enterprise Change research agenda for MIT’s Lean Advancement Initiative (LAI), a joint program between the Sloan Management School and School of Engineering. He is currently working on a book about enterprise change – an approach for managing across organizations that he illustrates with cases studies showing how organizations and their people achieved operational excellence and sustained that high performance. George is the past Chair of the Organization Development and Change Division of the Academy of Management. He is a founding member of the Society for Organizational Learning.

Other writing about companies’ experiences in developing, sustaining, and transforming learning are in his co-authored books: To the Desert and Back: The Story of one of the Most Dramatic Business Transformations on Record (Jossey-Bass), The Dance of Change: The Challenges to Sustain Momentum in Learning Organizations (Doubleday/Currency), Car Launch: Managing the Human Side of Change and Oil Change: Perspectives on Corporate Transformation (both Oxford University Press).
